About Dr. Bailey

Nancy Bailey PhD, Owner of Desert Moon Consulting, Bedford County, PA provides coaching to individuals, groups, and business agencies in the areas of personal growth and development, and team building projects. Dr. Bailey has extensive experience in conducting customized Intensive workshops, group or individual coaching sessions, long-term client and family case management, and behavioral health care agency systems analysis. She is providing virtual and in-person coaching services and is contracted with companies to provide EAP brief counseling and referrals. Nationally known in the behavioral health treatment industry, Nancy is passionate about “creating an environment where individuals, families, and groups can heal and grow in a safe and supported space.” Dr. Bailey has experience working with executives, high profile individuals, athletes, government, and entertainment industry clients where discretion and confidentiality are paramount. Dr. Bailey has been affiliated with Caron Treatment Centers in Pennsylvania; Rosewood Treatment Centers for Eating Disorders, and The Meadows Treatment Center, Arizona. Dr. Bailey currently practices in Pennsylvania. Dr. Bailey has personally trained and been supervised under the direction of the late Pia Mellody using Post Induction Therapy. She has trained and supported clinical professionals in facilitating the PIT Model. Dr. Bailey consults with behavioral healthcare facilities in the United States to aid in the development and enhancement of their program curriculum, staff training, and delivery of services. Dr. Bailey is an adjunct professor in undergraduate and graduate university studies and serves as a content specialist on doctoral dissertation committees. Nancy also served on the IC&RC test advisory committee. 

Dr. Bailey is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Capella University where she received her Ph.D. from the Harold Abel School of Social and Behavioral Studies with a focus on Counseling Studies. In addition, she earned her Master of Science degree from Eastern University in Non-Profit Management and a Bachelor of Arts from Eastern University in Organizational Management. Nancy is a Certified Advanced Addictions Counselor, Certified Co-Occurring Disorders Professional, and holds specialized training certifications in Trauma Studies from JDI and Equine Assisted Learning. With over 40 years of experience in the field of behavioral health treatment, Nancy specializes in experiential modalities including trauma-informed therapies treating substance use disorders, codependency, relational trauma, and co-occurring disorders.  Dr. Bailey is also a neurofeedback practitioner utilizing BrainPaint and Muse systems and is EMDR Certified. Nancy trained extensively with Pia Mellody at The Meadows treatment center in Arizona in Post Induction Therapy (PIT) and has facilitated the training of other industry professionals in the PIT Model of Developmental Immaturity.

In her free time, you will most likely find Nancy taking photographs (most photos on desertmoonconsulting.com are her own), writing, practicing meditation (MBSR) and yoga, enjoying her dogs, playing with her grandchildren, and exploring local consignment shops with her husband.
